As I've seen a couple of new members asking about this problem with them not being able to private message other members on the forum.
the requirements for this is simply just 5+ Messages around the forum to unlock this ability.
This means making threads and reply to threads will count towards this. NB! profile posts will not count towards this.
Hopefully this will help all you new members struggling with this.
