Hey ConsoleCrunch Members,

Today I just feelt like talking a little about Security and Safety because
I find it really interesting and very userful
knowledge for our Private Person Identities and our Private Online Identites.

But lets start with.

Why Is Internet Security Importent?

Well Internet Security is Important because it is an essential for Protecting Personal, Online and Business Information.
High-profile attacks such as Denial of Service attack (DDoS) attackt allow hackers to steal credit card, account, password, bank,
personal identification information and damaging reputations and causing financial havoc for the victims.

All kind of private data that are being revealed should be taking very seriously!

You cannot get around this basic fact that every security measure will have some sort of impact on your life,
Including work.
Security requires you to be pro active and to put the effort in.
And you need to be prepared for this.
Once you have decided on the appropriate security process, there is no room for shortcuts.
Shortcuts are gaping holes in your plan that ends up compromising you.

Yes, there are times when you are just too tired or feeling to lazy to encrypt all your sensitive files or information,
but what is that one half hour compared to the prison sentence which may await you when all your sensitive
data has been compromized and hanged out online without you knowing were and how to remove that data?
Finally, if you are part of a group or a member of an online community then the security is not just about yourself,
but about everyone you are involved with.
Slackness on your part means are you compromising them, and you do have a responsibility to them.
If you are making mistakes which allow your opponents to find out crucial and sensitive data on the ones
you have been involved with you are effectively betraying them, Not a comfortable thought, but an important one.

Security is a process that must be built from the start !

Computers are very powerful tools but the Internet, however, Provides even more Potential.
Internet and Computers are used by all kind of people from kids to government entities.
The Internet provides a means of allowing anyone to handle any sorts of information online without having to
come to a physical location or talk on the phone.
When Internet-accessible information is not secured, the consequences can be disastrous!
The Internet is a World Wide Web and not just what you are seeing,
All websites have a database that often store social security numbers, credit card information,
password and account information, secret information and all kind of other information which
can be used to rob victims or steal identities.
And only One breach for secure information can lead to millions of compromised identities !

But No website can store someting you are not revealing !

The best approach is to decide what it is you want to achieve,
make plans and then identify the points where you could be compromised.
Once you have done this, work out security tactics to stop those potential compromises from becoming unacceptable risks.
For Anonumous surfing you cannot think you can just use a VPN or Tunnel your web connection and get away with leaving traces,
You will have to put much more extra time than downloading a VPN Software and press "Activate Anonymous Sufing"
A Security Process is either a course of action or a technique adapted to your needs and situation !

And why make it easy to find you when you can get a PO Box. Not so well known is that anyone can ring up
the post office and find to whom it is registered, including addresses. A stronger, if more expensive solution, is to get a
mail drop box. There are several firms which offer such services and who will not give the information out unless there
is a warrant. Names and Emails can all be stored, and phone calls taped by those on the other end.

Why is Internet Safety Importent?

Well, In order to understand why you need to extreme safeguard your privacy and maintain the Internet safety standards,
it's very important to be aware of the dangers or risks associated with unsecured Internet access.
Websites are a mine of information for any investigator.
A WHOIS search for an example can track down who owns the website,
but you are able to register it to a PO Box and to use fake contact names.

So I will now discuss some of the most common issues in Internet safety:

- Unauthorized Network Access or Hacking

Unauthorized access is one of the major threats as far as Internet safety is concerned.
Network Security consists of the provisions made in an underlying computer network infrastructure to protect the network and the network-accessible resources from an unauthorized access. Hacking means people can get unauthorized access to a account, computer system, secure information or your network. Once they have the access to your account, they have complete control over all your transactions, and can misuse your account for illegal or objectionable purposes.
A hacker getting access to your online banking account is as bad as a robber getting access to a safe.

- Phishing, Email Frauds, and Spamming

Phishing refers to the cases of online scams as people fraudulently trying to acquire sensitive information by posing as a "trustworthy" entity via email or instant online messaging. This information can include your important financial as well as personal contact details. The information can then be used for several illegal purposes, which, can put you in trouble.

At times, this information is collected and sold to online advertisers as well. Online scams, which involve requests for your
bank account numbers, passwords, accounts or any other sensitive information, this is a menace over the Internet.
Spamming might be relatively harmless, but it is just as annoying since it floods your mailbox with unwanted advertising. Spammers are also likely to sell your address and phone numbers, as a result of which you might end up getting bombarded with telemarketing calls and snail mail at times.

- Sexual Abuse, Pedophiles, and Pornography

The Internet is not just flooded with illegal pornographic content, but is also full of sexual predators on a lookout for easy prey.
There are several cases of pedophiles trapping children via chat and web cams, bullying them into meeting in person, and abusing them. Internet pornography is a major threat for the people who frequently keep on posting their photographs and videos over the Internet, since these can be misused and even posted on pornographic sites and also tracked and used to find personal and sensitive information about you or any one you know.

Ways to Ensure Internet Safety

Taking into account how vulnerable we are to cybercrimes, having strong firewall protection for the network is a must today. In case you want to secure your network for your home PC, you need a basic firewall, anti-virus software, anti-spyware software, and a robust password in case of wireless connections. In case you have a medium business, you would need a strong firewall and all the previously mentioned parameters with the addition of physical security and a network analyzer. In case of large businesses, you would require stronger Internet security software and security fencing in addition to the network analyzers. But this Is not allways the case, Even a normal Home PC can be a target of Cyber Crime Attacks.

Internet safety is not just about making your network secure, but is also about being responsible when you are online.
You should not upload your pictures and videos on social networking sites that do not provide strong privacy settings.
Make sure that you go through the website's privacy policy and also resort to the most stringent privacy settings for your
social networking profile. Do not accept friends/chat request from strangers.
Anonymous surfing is yet another safety measure that--though simple--can help you secure your Internet.

It is very good to educate and inform others about the possible dangers of the Internet and supervise your own online activities.
This is where cyber security software and hardware come to you rescue. It is possible to make Internet safe from unwanted access to websites such as pornography by using software which allows you to block websites which are not ideal for anyone actually.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is ALOTS of other things I can tell you all about Security and Safety,
But to much knowledge about this will just get you a headache and then you might just give up on it and hope for the best

But, Security and Safety is someting that should be taken Very Seriously!
