The PlayStation 4 Pro has finally been revealed, along with an early list of games that will support its capabilities, both upcoming games and games that have already released. But don’t worry, you won’t have to keep the list close at hand if you want to know whether or not a game is enhanced on the PS4 Pro. The game’s box art will let you know.
Box art for games that support the PS4 Pro’s features will include a small blue and white icon that says includes the PS4 Pro logo and the words “PS4 Pro Enhanced.” This indicator will also be included on the PSN store page for these games.
None of these games are exclusive to the PS4 Pro, which is likely why they chose to specifically include the word “enhanced” on the packaging. The console logo alone might cause a misunderstanding and make potential customers think the PS4 Pro is required. According to Sony, there will be no PS4 Pro-exclusive games. All PS4 games will be playable on either the regular PS4 or the PS4 Pro.
The PS4 Pro provides 4K support, improved graphics (even if you don’t have a 4K TV), HDR, etc. However, this does not necessarily mean every PS4 Pro enhanced game will support all of these features. More information about that should be released at a later date.
So far, the major advantage of the PS4 Pro is that it supports better graphics and 4K resolutions. It will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the upcoming Xbox One upgrade, Project Scorpio, particularly since the PS4 Pro will not allow you to play 4K Blu-ray discs (which the Xbox One S and presumably Project Scorpio do).
Are the enhancements provided by the PS4 Pro enough to make you upgrade? Will it disappoint you if certain games do not support the PS4 Pro? Will you check box art before buying new games to see whether they do or not? Let us know your thoughts on the PS4 Pro in the comments.
