At the Geek Pwn convention on the 24/10/2016 a group called Chaitin released a video of a supposed 4.01 ps4 jailbreak. Not that much is know about the hack at this time but it looks similar to the 1.76 update witch allows ps4 consoles to run Linux. In the video that Linux build from the 1.76 update is used to run an nes emulator witch is capable of running super Mario brothers.
Like a lot of rumors many people did not believe this until George Hotz posted this tweet of him and the Chaitin group. George Hotz was the first person to ever unlock an iPhone and he also dismantled the ps3's tight security measures. All tho there is no evidence to say that George is involved in the ps4 jailbreak apparently he was at the convention to show off an app related to self-driving cars.
On the 25/10/2016 Sony released update 4.05 for all ps4 users. This could just be a coincidence or it could be in case the 4.01 jailbreak get released to the public. At this time we cannot be certain if this jailbreak will ever be available to the public but what is does show us is that there is a private jailbreak out there for a firmware above 1.76.
