There’s been plenty of rumor and speculation that Naughty Dog’s award-winning PS3 title The Last of Us will make its way to the PlayStation 4.

Sony has officially announced the release of the PS4 version of The Last of Us on the PlayStation Blog. The game will run in 1080p with improved textures.

Target, GameFly, and Best Buy are all listing the game as coming out June 20, 2014.

The June date may be a placeholder or just a guess from someone entering in release dates for the game, but it's interesting that it matches across three major retailers. We've reached out to the stores and Sony for confirmation.

The date is notable for falling on a Friday.

The $60 game is being developed internally at Naughty Dog, and they will try to make the game run at 1080p/60fps with "higher resolution character models"
