If I stay on one page for a while, and then hover over alerts or inbox, or click on a link to a forum/thread, a "security error" will appear and I have to refresh the page, I know it's Cloudflare causing this problem because when I refreshed the Cloudflare "Verifying your browser" page was up before it reloaded the page.

You should change the cache time to something longer. It feels as though it's set to 15 minutes or something.

It was set to 4 hours, but now I've increased it to 1 year. Tell me how it goes.

That isn't caused by the cache expiration date, but the "Challenge Passage" option in CloudFlare.
Cache is something completely different. The default value of the Challenge Passage should be around 30 minutes.
