First of all, you will need ccapi which is a pkg made by enstone which basically allows you to connect to your ps3 from your laptop without an FTP.
This works on any custom firmware except cobra firmwares, i use this on 4.50 Rogero and i know people do this on rebug a lot!! No problems reported as of now.
Okay so here is a how to video i made a while ago, this should do the trick.
