PS3 video faded away while playing.

So I was playing some call of duty when suddenly my video started turning grey, then got blurry, then I lost video output. I can still hear audio but no video.

I tried a new set of cables but same result..audio but no video.

Even reset the video settings ( as if that would've helped) but didn't work.


So.... any ideas?

No.

Try to get into safe mode and if it appears to have the same issue your Graphics Card is dead.

Sounds like a cable problem. With my experience with the RSX Chip or GPU, when it looses video and goes bad, its the Green Light Of Death (GLOD). (A contant green light). When that happens, not only with you loose video but your controllers will not snyc to your PS3. So I would troubleshoot and try a different hdmi cord and install it into a different port on your television.

Try to get into safe mode and if it appears to have the same issue your Graphics Card is dead.

That's what i'm afraid of.
Not only needing to buy a new GPU but all the work that goes with installing and might as well reball while i'm in there.

You have to rule out all options before you rule it as a GPU problem. If you checked with a different hdmi, then do a video reset on your ps3 by holding the power button. If still no video with hdmi, you'll have to try using your AV Jack to make sure your hdmi port on your ps3 didn't go bad. If still no video with AV, then you can rule it to be your GPU.

Well, what's telling me its a GPU issue is that it has audio so the HDMI port is working. I agree he should try the RBG cord and reset the video.
