Sony already release the firmware update 5.01. Right now the update is optional, that means that you can access to your PSN account with the firmware 5.00. This is a minor update, only stating that this update “improves system performance”.
Usually this updates patch vulnerabilities. The message is a little diferent from the past messages “improves system stability”.
And what does this update?
Normally the gaming sites provide any type of information about the improvements. But this doesn't happen on this update. A couple of websites only speak about the characteristics of the 5.00 firmware.
However i see a couple of sites, saying that this update patches
Qwertuyoruiop’s 5.00 kernel exploit, and some scene websites hinting that this might patch flat_z’s recent technique to install unsigned packages on jailbroken PS4 consoles.
But right now there’s no evidence of any of these being patched, and any hacker has come out yet to speak about this update does to the system or their private exploits.
