PS4 linux finally working?

After finding this I wanted to post this hopefully first. For my understanding is that these people "hacked" their way into the ps4 and installed Linux some how. The video below will show what I mean. If anyone would like to put this on the main thread just ask and I will see. Thanks for seeing this.

Well the reason they got Linux running on the ps4 is because Sony uses a locked down version of Linux for the PS. So in theory you can use the PS as a PC and or install steam OS to get cheap games.

Well it's pretty much jailbroken on 1.76 (very old firmware) just haven't been released. To get Linux running on the ps4 they would need to be able to run unassigned code and running unassigned code is a jailbreak.

But I wouldn't expect piracy to be on it considering the people working on the ps4 jailbreak are against piracy, because they dont want to go to prison. The things they are currently doing is allowed and not breaking any law.

Well from my understanding they are only making it were you can install a alternative OS such as steam OS for discounted games.

The team is trying to prevent piracy but im sure a good coder could enable piracy.

like on the ps3 you can write a homebrew application and run FTP, functions are in the sdk i think.

I will only if piracy is enabled I'm tired of paying $60 for a game i never play and can't return

I think their code is leaked.
If someone has that code,like someone who will take it seriously and enable homebrews,backups basically privacy he will do it..

The exploit doesn't touch the software side of the ps4. The exploit only boots the Linux kernel so this doesn't necessarily means they can use this to jailbreak the ps4, maybe another talented engineer can find a way to do something with that exploit other than booting the kernel.
