The "narrative-driven" game will launch in 2015 for computers, consoles and mobile devices.
Today, Telltale Games and Mojang announced that they are collaborating on an unexpected project: Minecraft: Story Mode.

Sporting the usual A Telltale Games Series subtitled, the series will be an episodic game. The first episode will launch in 2015 for Windows, Mac OS X, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, iOS and Android.

Mojang revealed the game through an interactive press release, titled Info Quest II, that plays like a game. On their official website, they revealed some information about the game:

Minecraft: Story Mode will be a narrative-driven video game created by Telltale Games. It will be about Minecraft. Mojang is collaborating with Telltale and members of the community to make Minecraft: Story Mode as Minecrafty as possible ... We’re not intending on creating an “official” story for [Minecraft's player character] Steve, or explaining the world of Minecraft in detail. It will be a cool game.

The standalone game will tell an original story that is "driven by player choice". Mojang says that the game itself "won't look exactly like Minecraft, but it will feel authentic in its own special way".
