That's completely irrelevant, you could be playing a game which Raises the temperatures of the RSX and the CELL temperature even more due to either high quality graphics or etc, so therefore just testing id's will not give YLOD to your ps3. " if melts the solder then it cools but cools in the wrong place and that is wha causes it to YLOD." Not necessarily true, YLOD is caused but over heating and melting the solder that's true, but the reason it YLODs 99% of the time is because after the soldering melts, with the un-thankful help of the fan the soldering suddenly cools and it cracks under the RSX chip.
To avoid YLOD:
1# Set fan settings on the ps3 to HIGH
2# Don't play on scorchingly hot days go to the beach mate and chill.
